For generations, the Lonehill Dam has been more than just a body of water. It has been the backdrop to family picnics, children’s adventures, peaceful morning walks, countless sunsets and treasured memories. It is a place where nature, wildlife and our community come together.
Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to restoring the dam for every resident who calls Lonehill home. We will stand beside a healthy, thriving dam once again with your help.
Years of ageing infrastructure, environmental challenges and significant water loss have left the dam facing one of the greatest challenges in its history. Without intervention, we risk losing one of Greater Lonehill’s most treasured natural assets.
The Lonehill Residents Association has embarked on an ambitious Dam Revival Project, working alongside environmental specialists, engineers, Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo, and passionate members of our community to restore this iconic landmark. Extensive investigations have already been completed, and for the first time we have a clear understanding of what is needed to bring the dam back to life.
